1. Tell us a bit about the virtual happy hour, and how viewers can follow along

Wine Wednesday is inspired by the researched fact, that more people drink wine at home on Wednesday than any other night of the week! (In normal time when we are all out and about..) Right now with everyone at home, wine enthusiasts are looking for inspiration and new ideas in wine. I host Wine Wednesday on my Instagram each week at 6pm. @sandraswinelife

2. Any exciting episodes coming up?

I’m excited that I will be conducting live tastings to social media “foodies”.  I will be sharing basic introductions to wine and food pairings, and also to talk about new wines to enjoy as the weather and season changes.

3. How does wine affect moods?

It always makes me happy! I particularly love that when you buy or receive a nice bottle of wine, the first thing you think of is, “Who am I going to share this with?” Sharing wine with family and friends, is a connective tangible emotion that brings you together in the moment of the first smell, sip and toast. Even enjoying a glass together on Zoom lightens everyones spirits.

4. How do different wines affect thoughts?

The olfactory nerve is a powerful memory trigger. Often a glass of wine will transport me to a particular meal, location or event. A big California Syrah and the aroma of rosemary and garlic, always remind me of beef tri-tip  meals with homemade tortillas out under the stars in Ojai  California with my friends. Or a bright Vermentino brings me to Sardinia Italy to my favorite restaurant La Gritti, with fresh seafood pasta enjoyed in the sun and breeze.

5. Have you been to Italy? What’s your favorite part?

I started going to Italy as a young model in 1986. I have been fortunate enough to travel all over the country for work and play ever since. I have spent the last 5 summer vacations on the Island of Sardinia where the local Vermentino wine has become my summer wine craving and Porto Cervo my favorite local.

6. Where is your favorite place to drink wine?

It’s not so much where, as it is with who. On a fabulous rooftop in NYC, sitting around my fire pit in Connecticut or in a favorite restaurant. As long as I am sharing in the experience with old or new friends, any place is great. Otherwise these days, a nice glass in the bath tub…

7. What is your favorite wine?

My standard answer is… What ever is open.
