I had an opportunity to ask one of the artists a few question so I asked them to Cavier Coleman. His artwork is pictured at the head of this post and the interview is below!
1. Where is a good place to learn more about Project Zero?
The Project Zero website at www.weareprojectzero.org is a great place for information, to see who is involved, and learn more about the projects – and make an investment in the ocean, of course. You can also follow @projectzero on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date with events and special projects like our Artsy auction.
2. How did this auction and Project Zero come together?
I became an Ambassador of Project Zero a few months ago and totally support the mission to protect and restore the ocean to fight the climate crisis. I think we’re all concerned about the future of our planet, so we all came together to do something to be a part of the solution.
3. Are you or any of the other participating artists making other efforts to help the climate crisis?
I can’t speak for the other artists. I support Project Zero’s work and use my artwork as a platform to encourage conversation. My piece in the Project Zero x Artsy auction is titled Global Warming. I also do what I can in my everyday life to reduce my carbon and plastic footprints to help the ocean.
4. What are a few things the average person can do to help “Turn the Tide?”
Invest in the ocean! The ocean is our biggest ally in the fight against the climate crisis. Project Zero is working to secure a global network of ocean sanctuaries and they all need investment to secure them for the good of the planet and the people living around them. Reducing your carbon footprint is another important way you can help. Really simple things can really add up, like turning off the water when you brush your teeth, switching out lightbulbs, taking public transportation, walking or riding a bike, to reducing your consumption of meat. And most importantly – vote for politicians who believe in science and will lead us to a sustainable future.
