Suboo Summer – Daydream in Color

Nothing says summer like bright splashes of color and long flowy fabrics. I was browsing through the goods on SubooUSA.com and became a little bit obsessed right at the get go.

First off, their recently debuted collection for Miami swim week is just insane. Geometrics, bondage, cutouts, the lines are just all so sexy but at the same time could basically be art so you won’t just look like you’re wearing something that looks like it shouldn’t be worn outside of the bedroom. The suits just look cool.. and arty,  you’ll basically be a sculpture even if you don’t have a sculpturesque body.

You can find Subuu at Intermix, Neiman Marcus, ShopBop and Evolve… or their website of course  http://suboousa.com

Here were my favorites from swimwear:

risefall one piece

The Rise & Fall One Piece.. they have a two piece version of this one as well and being a two piece its innately a bit on the sexier side but I think the one-piece is perfect. I could see any body type wear this, and the intercrossing strings add a lot of visual interest. Pair it with a white floppy hat and a breezy coverup and you’re golden.

tangerine neck

The Tangerine Halter Neck One Piece – I am in love with orange lately and the halter neck on this makes a statement. I think the lines on this will be very slimming while accentuating the waist in just the right spot and creating curves for those that might not have many. Bare shoulders can be so sexy. Only thing is if you’re out in the sun for any serious amount of time, the white sections are mesh so they may create interesting tan lines.

The suit alone could work well enough as a tank top.. just pair it with a flowy skirt and you’re set to hop around town or go to a pool party without showing too much skin.

suit&tie

Check + Black Bandeau Bikini – This reminded me a bit of a tuxedo kind of look. It’s a little bit jackie O and abstractism put together –  makes a statement with the perfect balance of white and black. You can match this with a bright red lip, red sunnies and slicked back hair.

sale pleated maxi

Quilla Qua Pleated Maxi – This item I found in their sale section. I’m in love with feminine micro pleats right now.. on dresses, skirts, shirts anything. This piece definitely satisfied my love for the geometric and the colors I think are paired really well. This skirt would go really well with either or the two one piece suits I put up on top.

Celebrating Spring & The Fight Against Parkinson’s

0

Last Wednesday over 300 supporters of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation and Young New Yorkers raised more than $90,000 at the 7th annual Celebrate Spring New York Fete at LAVO. Proceeds from the evening will benefit PDF’s Côté Clinical Genetics Initiative, which supports research to identify and understand the role of genetic markers in Parkinson’s disease.

Celebrate Spring New York was founded by G. Pennington Egbert III, his sister Missy Egbert Sheehan and their close friend Georgina B. Schaeffer whose fathers both lived with Parkinson’s disease. They joined together to create the Young New Yorkers for the Fight Against Parkinson’s committee, a group of nearly 100 New Yorkers dedicated to advancing a cure for Parkinson’s. Each year the committee hosts Celebrate Spring New York, which has raised nearly $600,000 since its inception.

The event began at 8:00 PM with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dancing with music provided by DJ Brenda Black. The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation supports research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people touched by Parkinson’s. Created by William Black, the founder of Chock full o’Nuts, a successful New York coffee and restaurant business, PDF was the first national not-for-profit organization to focus on Parkinson’s disease. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested $100 million in the research of leading scientists around the world and has committed an additional $42 million to support education and advocacy programs.

For more information on the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, call (800) 457-6676 or visit www.pdf.org/csny.

THEY’RE OUT FOR BLOOD – KINGS OF GOSSIP GATHER @ IVY BAR

0

New York, NY – Hosted by Geraldo Rivera, the launch party for #1 New York Times Bestselling author Mike Walkers latest novel was a hit. The legendary National Enquirer columnist holds some clout in the gossip world and heavy-hitters Richard Johnson (Page Six) and Lachlan Cartwright (NY Daily News Confidention) were seen prowling the crowd while a live jazz quartet played in the background, the perfect setting to build a slightly eery vibe for the launch of a vampire tale.

The full title of Mike Walker’s latest novel is “Out For Blood: Private Diary of a Gossip Vampire”, the party took place at Ivy Bar and Grill on Monday, November 4, 2013.

In Out For Blood, the latest book from veteran National Enquirer “Guru of Gossip” Mike Walker, the term “deadline” takes new meaning. Out For Blood’s atypical hero, Clark, has a to-die-for secret: he’s the undead! Flying the night skies to spy on Tinseltown’s sexiest stars and consistently scooping his industry cohorts, with a killer career as gossip-in-residence at the National Revealer, Clark has long stood to be one of Hollywood’s most feared men…which is to say nothing of his razor-sharp bite. But when a sex tape scandal with smokin’ hot starlet/tabloid terror TayLo Logan leads him into a nefarious murder plot that threatens everything he holds dear – including his beloved Revealer post – it’s high time for the real fangs to come out.

An uproariously funny, satirical and surprisingly thought-provoking romp through the sex, lies, and videotape that make the Hollywood gossip machine go ‘round, Out For Blood is a novel that only the likes of Walker could write.

At the book launch party, Mike Walker, Geraldo Rivera and his wife Erica Levy were joined by many close friends and the media elite for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Ivy Bar and Grill, including New York Post columnist Richard Johnson, New York Observer writer Ben Widdicombe, Executive Producer of The Geraldo Rivera Radio Network Marty Berman, New York Daily News Confidenti@l gossip columnist Lachlan Cartwright, Vanity Fair contributing editor John Connolly, entertainment reporter Bill McCuddy, Inside Edition special correspondent Rita Cosby, Susie Coelho (ex-wife of Sonny Bono), creator of Eyewitness News Albert T. Primo, philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and Resident Magazine editor-in-chief Christopher Pape.

Out For Blood is widely available via all major online retailers and select brick-and-morter booksellers as of October 31st, 2013.

Nicole Miller and Peter Davis Fall Fashion Soiree

nicolemiller2New York, NY – Fashion designer Nicole Miller and Peter Davis, Editor in Chief of SCENE Magazine kick off Fall Fashion in a celebratory soiree on the rooftop of the W Residences in FiDi (Financial District).

I was amazed at how surprisingly well organized, polite and capable of handling massive crowds of invited and uninvited guests the event staff was. I watched as one staff member scrolled “the list” on her iPad for the names of the two guests in front of me. When she was unable to locate their names, she thought strategically for a second, and politely allowed the gentlemen to enter with their press pass. A source at The New York Observer told me – 400 guests RSVP’d for the event, but only 200 were confirmed.

After getting passed the door, I was a bit anxious to arrive to the roof-deck thanks to a full lift and several stops. When the doors finally opened to the 57th floor I was excited to be the first to exit, but instead of stepping into a room filled with fashionably dressed ladies and gents, I was greeted by a security filled corridor and step-in-repeat. I decided to make my way to a second elevator at the other end when a photographer from Patrick McMullan invited me to have my picture taken.

A brief elevator ride later, I walked into a crowd filled billiards room and out onto the terrace where I bumped into Adam Weiss and Matthew Sheldon by the bar. The gorgeous LuAnn de Lessepes , The Housewives of New York, joined us for a cocktail and posed for a few photos before vanishing into the social scene. An announcement was made informing us Nicole Miller was ready to give her presentation. The crowd gathered to see the designer and hear her speak as she presented each of six looks from her Fall collection.

After socializing, I again made my way towards the elevator. This time on my way to the 5th floor for a complimentary cocktail. The doors closed, I glanced around and noticed Nicole Miller on the elevator. She broke the silence by sharing that she wore bangs, but didn’t like how they would split down the middle. I felt a little self-conscious because my hair was styled in a ponytail with a  split bang. I thought to myself, “do they look bad?”

At the 5th floor bar, I began telling Adam and Matthew about my Nicole Miller experience when a voice chimed in. I turn and It’s Tom Murro, The Fox Morning Extra and The Huffington Post. I ask, “Were you on the elevator?” “I was,” he said. “Do you think that had anything to do with my bangs?” “I think it probably just reminded her of when she wore bangs.” “This is too funny, I guess it’s going in my story: the night goes out with a bang!” “Personally, I prefer the straight up bang,” he replied. “What about a side bang?,” I ask him. “No, I like the straight up bang better.” We all laughed and ended the night with a metaphorical bang.
