Kelly Fischer: Blending Worlds (September 18, 2019)
The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York presents “Blending Worlds;” an abstract paintings exhibition by American/Swiss artist Kelly. Originally from Tennessee, Fischer has lived in Switzerland for the past thirty years. The artist maintains strong connections in both countries; spending equal time at her Bern and Memphis studios.
“Blending Worlds” is the seventh edition of Art @ The Consulate, a curatorial initiative by the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York to showcase the work of Swiss artists in the United States.
The embassy invites art lovers and collectors to follow Art @ The Consulate on social media #SwissArtNYC.
About the artist:
Originally from Tennessee, Kelly Fischer has lived in Switzerland for the past thirty years. She maintains strong connections in both countries, spending equal time at her studios in Bern & Memphis. Her paintings have been featured at numerous galleries and exhibitions, including Art Basel Miami, the Austrian Biennale, and the Venice Biennale. Aside from art, Kelly has published eleven children’s books and is the former founder and head of the English Montessori School of Bern.
Artist Statement:
I pursue shapes and colors. My semi-abstract, expressionist portraits tell a story of whimsical spontaneity. Based on an underpainting my art begins to emerge as color and texture are added layer by layer. The landscapes pull the viewer into a world of color, light, and emotion. My body of work has developed and evolved over time, with much of the outcome being driven by creative impulses.

Inaugural Edmiston Charity Chukka In The Hamptons with Polo Icon Nacho Figueras
Edmiston Yachts and polo icon Nacho Figueras hosted the first annual Edmiston Charity Chukka, presented by luxury destination Amaala, at the Ashkenazy family estate in Water Mill. Supported by Feadship, NetJets, Hublot, de Grisogono, Overfinch, Berkeley Travel, Zang Toi, and other venerable partners, the event benefitted Stonybrook Southampton Hospital.

Recalling the glorious days of polo in the Hamptons, Edmiston President, Robert Shepherd, remarks that “we were pleased to work with Nacho Figueras again to bring this kind of experience back to the Hamptons. Our goal was to create a curated day for the whole family, featuring a polo match, gourmet cuisine, sublime beverages, kid’s activities, classic cars, cutting edge yachts, fashion, spa services and luxury lifestyle amenities.” Inspired by the elegant polo events of the past, the Edmiston Charity Chukka rendered a luxurious and immersive lifestyle experience, beyond the exciting polo match between the Edmiston and Amaala teams – including a mini Concours d’Elegance featuring Stuart Parr’s rare vintage and exotic cars, a Petrossian caviar and Veuve Clicquot champagne reception before the match, followed the trophy presentation (the Amaala team, led by Nacho Figueras, won the cup) and for those taking a break in between chukkas, mini massages by Zeel.

Nacho Figueras remarked “it was such a pleasure to be part of this event in what is such a magnificent setting for a polo field. I was really motivated by this great opportunity to bring polo back to the Hamptons, raise funds for the local hospital and, most importantly, to have fun with old and new friends. That was three goals achieved before we even started to play!”
Polo enthusiasts and notables from the yachting, finance, art and fashion worlds including Nacho Figueras, Thom Browne’s Rodrigo Bazan, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Whitney Fairchild, Delfina Blaquier Figueras, Libby and Terry Fitzgerald, Roberto De Guardiola, Bobby Genovese, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Tico Mugrabi, Shark Tank’s Rohan Oza, Erica Pelosini, Lady Jane Rothschild, Andres and Lauren Santo Domingo, Susan Shin, Zang Toi, Gucci Westman and David Neville, and Rachel Zoe.
