Home to some of the most renowned chefs including Chef David Burke, Anthony Amoroso and Aaron McCargo Jr., Peppr’s founders are the next generation to come out of New Jersey and bring a brand-new vision and meaning to immersive culinary experiences. Peppr teaches guests the art of making a delicious restaurant-quality meal like a pro, by a pro, all within the comfort of one’s own home.

Chef Riccatelli, a Marlboro native, began his career right out of college at Stage Left in New Brunswick, NJ where he learned the ins and outs of running a fine dining establishment. After being immersed in the culinary scene just across the Hudson River and working under Bobby Flay’s leadership, Chef Riccatelli still resides in New Jersey where he supports and provides local producers the access to the freshest possible ingredients. Two River Gourmet Mushrooms of Long Branch, Lust Lobster in Highlands and Fossil Farms of Boonton are among the many Chef Riccatelli supports. Alongside Chef Riccatelli are co-founders Fiorica, a North Brunswick resident and Merlo, an Old Bridge resident, who together brought the Peppr plan to fruition. For a finishing touch on the idea, Chef Riccatelli called upon the talents of his Chopped Champion alumni to create a culinary all-star virtual experience unlike any other.

The Peppr process is seamless with fresh ingredients delivered from the chefs right to your door with a click of a button. Guests have the option to choose from different chefs, each spotlighting a specialty dish and a suggested wine pairing. Chef Brooke Siem prepares a Crispy Pan Roasted Duck Breast with a Warm Carrot and Seasonal Fruit Salad; Chef Cara Hermanson crafts Summer Shrimp Boil and luscious Garlic Bread; Chef Fernanda Tapia whips up Chicken Thighs with Orzo “Paella” and Asparagus Salad; Chef Lauren Covas helps guests create a Portuguese Flounder de Limon and Escabeche with Arroz de Tomate; and Chef Yunha Moh showcases Coconut Chicken served over Jasmine Rice. Prices start at $85.00 for their summer special and can host anywhere from two to 100 guests perfect for date night, office re-opening parties, socially-distanced friend reunions, team building activities, and more. Emilio Villalba: PEOPLE & THINGS July 17th – August 7th, 2021

0

NEW YORK CITY – Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to
present People & Things, a solo exhibition by San Francisco-
based artist, Emilio Villalba. Consisting of a new series of oil
paintings of composite still lifes and portraits, the exhibition is
Villalba’s inaugural solo exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary
and debut solo exhibition in New York City.

Marsha by Emilio Villalba, 2021

For People & Things, Villalba was inspired by the everyday
objects and people from his daily life. Each subject was painted
alla prima. By working with layers of wet-on-wet paint, the artist calls to mind the quickness with which these subjects appear and re-appear throughout his day. Gestural brushstrokes create depth and texture, bringing a sense of beauty and appreciation for the mundane, from
empty beer cans, to broken-in Converse sneakers, to old Toyotas.
Collage-like compositions are prominent throughout the body of work, mimicking the winding narratives of a dream. Objects are shown overlapping, pieced together and floating in an undefined space, interposed with self-portraits and set against checkered backgrounds.

These ambiguous configurations are almost like snapshots, archived from deep within the artists memories.

Michelle-Orange by Emilio Villalba, 2021

Please join us Saturday, July 17th from 10am to 6pm for the opening of People & Things. The artist will be in attendance.

In order to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff, please note that masks are required for entry.

The exhibition will be on view Saturday, July 17th to Saturday, August 7th.

Hope For Depression’s Race of Hope Returns To Southampton – In Person & Virtual 08/08

Southampton, NY – July 2021 – The Race of Hope is back! On Sunday, August 8, 2021, Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF) will hold its Sixth Annual 5K Race of Hope to Defeat Depression in Southampton Village.  Last year the Race — a Walk/Run that attracts hundreds of participants from the tri-state area — went virtual due to COVID restrictions.  This year’s in person event marks a careful return to “more-normal,” with specific measures such as staggered heats and required masks at the starting line to keep everybody safe.

“We are so excited to be able to gather again in person for this event that raises mental health awareness and critical funds for depression research,” said HDRF Founder and Chair Audrey Gruss, a Southampton resident.  “Humans are wired to need warm social interaction.  The isolation of the pandemic has taken a large toll on the nation’s mental health.”

Gruss noted surveys showing that over one third of Americans are struggling with depression and anxiety in the wake of the pandemic.  She said: “As a society we are just beginning to identify the impact of the past 16 months.  Understanding and developing treatments for these mental disorders is therefore critically important, and that is what this Race makes possible.”

Gruss is a Co-Grand Marshal of the Race along with East Hampton resident Arthur Dunnam.  They will lead participants on a beautiful 5K (3.1 mile) loop around Lake Agawam in Southampton Village.  The Race is open to all ages and speeds and walkers are welcome.  The event has grown quickly over the years, with 750 participants in 2019.  This year, organizers expect hundreds of participants, up to a maximum allowance of 500, per New York State guidelines.  The Race of Hope has raised over $1 million for research since its inception in 2016.

It is important to note that the Race this year will still offer a virtual component for the thousands of racers who have embraced the cause and want to participate but live far away.  They will still have the option to sign up and complete the distance in their own hometowns.  These racers will also have a chance to share their stories and cheer each other through a special interactive live program broadcast by HDRF over social media on the morning of the actual Race.

In-Person Registration Information:

·       Go online to www.raceofhopeseries.com and register for a fee of $35 July 12 (the price increases to $40 after this date).

·       Each participant will receive an ultra-lightweight vest, hat, race shirt, mask and finisher medal.  (While supplies last.  Gear is distributed on a first come first served basis)

·       Meeting Point: The Cultural Center, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton, NY

·       Date: Sunday, August 82021

·       Time: Check-in begins at 7:15am and the Race of Hope begins at 8:30am SHARP.

Virtual Registration Information:

·       Go online to www.raceofhopeseries.com and pre register for a fee of $35 July 12 (the price increases to $40 after this date).

●      Participants choose their own trail and receive special Race gear in the mail (while supplies last).  They can walk or run the distance on their own time and in their own hometowns.

●      The special live broadcast made especially for their virtual racers will begin on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 8 AM.   The broadcast will be hosted by HDRF’s Race Director and Executive Director.  They will welcome viewers, show messages of hope from participants across the country, and then blow the starting gun at 8:30 am ET.   Any racers who want to complete their courses at the exact same time as the actual race in Southampton can do so with the live broadcast!

What is HDRF, and a quick overview of their work/achievements in the past decade:

•              HDRF is the leading non-profit dedicated solely to advanced depression research.

•              Audrey Gruss founded the organization in 2006 in memory of her mother, Hope, who struggled with depression.

•              The mission of HDRF is to fund cutting-edge neuroscience research into the origins, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of depression and other related mood disorders.

•              In 2010, HDRF launched its Depression Task Force – a collaboration of nine leading scientists, at the frontiers of brain science, from different research institutions across the U.S. and Canada. To accelerate breakthrough research, they share ongoing results, in real-time, at the HDRF Data Center.

•              HDRF has invested over $35 million in advanced depression research to date.

About Depression

•              In the United States, depression affects over 20-million adults each year – that is one in 10 adults.

•              Depression is the leading cause of suicide. In the United States, one person dies by suicide every 11 minutes – over 47,000 people per year.

•              Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide.

•              Depression costs society $210 billion annually – 60% of which represents reduced efficiency at work and costs related to suicide.

The Crisis in Research and Treatment

•              50% of those diagnosed with depression do not fully respond to existing treatments.

•              In 35 years since the introduction of Prozac and other SSRI anti-depressants, there has been almost no change in the treatment of depression.

•              Although depression is one of the most serious and prevalent conditions in the US, it is ranked 77th (out of 250) in the amount of federal funding it receives.

•              Most of the major pharmaceutical companies have discontinued brain research.

What Makes HDRF Different

•              The Depression Task Force represents the most innovative approach to neuroscience research today.

•              The Task Force has created an unprecedented research plan with each member executing a piece of the plan in their own laboratories.  By avoiding well-worn paths of research, the team is shaking up the field for answers that will finally lead to new treatments for depression.

•              They share results in real-time at a centralized data bank. This allows them to leverage data to accelerate research. This is unheard of in the entire scientific research field which is normally competitive and not collaborative.

White Room Gallery Presents This Is Different by Linda Colletta in Bridgehampton 07/13-07/18

Bridgehampton, NY – June 24, 2021 – The White Room Gallery, voted the best gallery in the Hamptons at Dan’s Papers “Best of the Best”, will present This Is Different, a solo exhibition highlighting the work of abstract artist Linda Colletta. The show will spotlight large scale abstract work from Colletta, on view from July 13th through July 18th at the gallery located at 2415 Main Street Bridgehampton, NY 11932.

This Is Different will include a new body of work from Colletta’s Drop Cloth collection where she intricately weaves together the industrial, the found and the ephemeral in a candidly organic method. Through her use of up-cycled painters’ drop cloths, she incorporates the history of random paint, dirt, spills, drips, and seams left behind as the foundation of a visual landscape exploring the relationship between the dark and light.

Often referencing the sociopolitical aspects of graffiti, punk rock, pop culture, and the natural environment, her approach to painting integrates a radical embrace of the subconscious mind. With no two works ever the same, her marks, layers, and compositions create a sense of controlled chaos that simultaneously captivates and unchains our attention.

The exhibition will feature works including A Cup of Something FrothyBlue Jeans I & II, and Queen of the Night, which will adorn the white walls of the expansive White Room Gallery.

Queen Of The Night

“My work gives form to the alchemy of my humanity. A magical process of piecing together recycled remnants, childhood imprints, and urban nostalgia until they are something entirely new,” said Colletta. “These candy coated compositions, whimsical on the outside and gritty on the inside, are in direct pursuit of radical honesty and reckless abandon.”

Colletta is an abstract artist, who has been creating art in various mediums for over 25 years. At 19 years old, she began her artistic journey as a scenic artist creating backdrops and scenery for live televised performances by Coldplay, Brittney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Green Day, among others. She left the scenic art world after 20 years to dedicate her life to her painting career. Her work has been exhibited at Monika King Projects, White Room Gallery, Southport Gallery, Burning Man, The Affordable Art Fair, and The Other Art Fair. Private collections include Justin Bieber, Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York Presbyterian, and 277 Fifth Ave.

Co-owners and directors, Andrea McCafferty and Kat O’Neill, opened The White Room Gallery in 2015. The gallery features contemporary art with a provocative twist of inspiration. The curators present a wide array of styles, showcasing the talents of established and emerging artists throughout the calendar year. McCafferty and O’Neill also present performance art, theater, and comedy at The White Room Gallery Culture Club with proceeds given to a selection of different charities.

This is Different

The White Room Gallery will also be showing at the upcoming Market Art + Design fair featuring artists Linda Colletta, Cabell Molina, Nelson De La Nuez, Russell Young, Craig Alan, Mr. Brainwash, TRAN$PARENT, Jane Waterous, Seek One, Sylvie Perrin, Lynn Savarese, Martha McAleer, Chad Knight, Joseph Kraham, and James Leonard at their booth from August 12th through August 15th.

The White Room is located at 2415 Main Street Bridgehampton, NY 11932. Exhibition hours are available and open to the public seven days a week from 11am -5pm.  If you are interested in checking out the exhibition, it is suggested to contact Andrea or Kat at art4thewhiteroomgallery@gmail.com. Black & White Gallery/Project Space Opens Southampton Space & Features Works By The Late Shimon Okshteyn

0

New York, NY, June 17, 2021 – Gallerist Tatyana Okshteyn has re-opened her beloved Black & White Gallery / Project Space in a new location in Southampton following the passing of her late husband, acclaimed artist Shimon Okshteyn, who was taken by the Covid-19 pandemic last year. The first two exhibitions at the new space are Shimon’s first posthumous shows entitled Shimon Okshteyn: Natural Landscape and Shimon Okshteyn: Still-Lifes, currentlyon view online at http://www.blackandwhiteartgallery.com/ and through July 5, 2021 at the artist’s former Southampton studio converted into exhibition space.

The new gallery space combines the bi-level barn with paint splattered on the first floor preserving the original marks made by the artist while working there and the sculpture garden surrounding the studio barn with the artist’s sculptures scattered throughout the space.

“Shimon’s creative shifts between genres have always been mysterious to me, especially his last shift from pop culture and nostalgia to poetic interpretation of the natural scenes of the East End of Long Island,” said owner Tatyana Okshteyn. “The new gallery space, both indoor and outdoor will be a place of peace and perseverance, of creativity infused from nature.”

Shimon Okshteyn: Natural Landscape features thirteen new paintings created in 2018 and 2019 installed on the first floor of the gallery where they were originally created by the artist, marking the artist’s return from the world of manmade to the realm of the organic, the perishable and the swiftly passing. Influenced by his life in the Hamptons surrounded by nature, highlights in the exhibition include Hamptons Spring from 2019, Polo Hamptons from 2018, Save $50 from 2018/2019, and Lily from 2018.

The top floor of the gallery spotlights Shimon Okshteyn: Still-Lifes, showcasingOkshteyn’s signature black and white graphite pieces with still life objects ranging from a bell and a hat to a bustle and a clasp. Highlighted works will include Stanley Knife from 2002, Zippo from 2007, Balducci Fetuccine from 1995 and Push Pin from 2004.

Okshteyn always expressed his evolving objective and imagined realities in his work balancing between the high and the low, public and private with a characteristic style that shifted between abstract and figurative. His practice came from the concept of difference and appropriation, and explored the varying relationships between popular culture and fine art. In the current climate where many believe history has no relevance, he found himself continually returning to those aspects that still strongly resonate with us today by meticulously preserving disappearing objects for posterity or reproducing excerpts of iconic works of art and inserting them into contemporary context. Okshteyn worked in a variety of different formats from drawings and sculptures to mixed media and installations.

His works were included in Approaching Objects: Works from the Whitney Museum Permanent Collection at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Extra-Ordinary: Everyday Object in American Art, New York State Museum, New Acquisitions: Brooklyn Museum of Art, Leaded: The Materiality and Metamorphosis of Graphite, University of Richmond Museums and Here Is The Thing. Simple Thing: Katonah Museum of Art, He has been featured in solo exhibitions in such notable institutions as the George Walter Vincent Smith Museum, The State Russian Museum, Grinnell College Art Museum, and the University of Rochester Memorial Art Gallery a companion show to Natura Morta: Still-Life Painting and the Medici Collections. In 2010 several of Okshteyn works were on view at the Galerie Rudolfinum and Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in the Decadence Now! Visions of Excess exhibition curated by Otto M. Urban along with such notable artists as Jeff Koons, Gilbert and George and Chapman Brothers. In 2014 several of his installations from the permanent collection of the Nasher Museum at Duke University were on view at Duke in the summer blockbuster show Connecting and Curating organized by the Rauschenberg Foundation and curated by Kristine Stiles.

Black & White Gallery / Project Space is located at 55 Island Creek Road, Southampton, NY 11968. Exhibition hours: Open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, noon-5pm, but must be scheduled in advance and Monday-Friday visits are by appointment only. If you are interested in checking out the exhibition, visitors must schedule the appointment by clicking on “Schedule Gallery Visit” button located on the home page of the gallery website www.blackandwhiteartgallery.com.

About Black & White Gallery/Project Space

Black & White Gallery/ Project Space was founded in New York in 2002. From the start, the Gallery has been committed to cultivating promising artists in the initial and more advanced phases of their careers exploring contemporary themes and concepts through multiple mediums. The Gallery’s original location was a unique industrial indoor/outdoor ground floor space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn – the breeding ground of emerging talent at that time. From 2006 to 2010 Black & White Gallery operated from two locations – Williamsburg and Chelsea. In 2010 the Chelsea location was closed, and not-for-profit Black & White Project Space was established. From 2010 to 2012 both the Gallery and Project Space operated side by side presenting simultaneous exhibition programs out of the Gallery’s original indoor/outdoor location in Williamsburg.

From 2015 to 2018 Black & White Gallery / Project Space operated from its new brick-and-mortar space in Bushwick, Brooklyn – the new creative hub of New York City. Going forward, the Gallery continues to experiment with different exhibition modules both in digital and physical spaces with their new location in Southampton.

Corey Lamb: CIRCADIAN June 19th – July 10th, 2021

NEW YORK CITY – Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to present
Circadian, a solo exhibition by South Florida-based artist, Corey Lamb.
Consisting of a new series of oil paintings, the exhibition is Lamb’s
second solo exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary and his debut
New York solo exhibition.

Corey Lamgb, Memory and Material, 2021

For Circadian, Lamb was inspired by the circadian rhythm, as well as
the concept of the ‘will to live’, developed by the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. The circadian rhythm refers to the biological processes that run on a 24-hour cycle, which driven by a natural internal clock. This rhythm can be summed up as instinctual behaviors which are mostly beyond our control. Schopenhauer’s ‘will to live’ concept is the irrational “blind incessant impulse without knowledge”, the instinctual behaviors we all possess, those without which we could not exist. These
two concepts, which run parallel to each other, informed Lamb’s work and can be observed in the narrative and recurring elements. The artist utilizes the canvas to create a window which grounds the viewer to a sense of time and space.

Corey Lamb, Will to Live, 2021

Throughout this body of work, Lamb adheres to three main palettes (green & pink, analogous violet, and chromatic grays) with each palette allowing the artist to expand on the motifs and stories being conveyed. The palette shift cross the paintings from day to the deep dark evening, calling to mind our own visual experience of time.

Corey Lamb, Day, 2021

About the body of work, Lamb states, “There are a lot of references to the body as object: through the dismembered body, vases, and small
figurine-like forms. This runs parallel to my thoughts concerning us as both individuals and objects experiencing the universe in our own personal way. The will to live propels us as objects to exist and propagate, but it’s our personal narrative that gives the experience meaning and purpose.”
The gallery will be open by appointment only. In order to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff, please note that masks are legally required for entry. To schedule an appointment, please

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Corey K. Lamb (b. 1983) is a Texas-born artist currently established as an Assistant Professor of Painting at Florida Atlantic University, located in sunny South Florida. He received his BFA from Stephen F. Austin State University, and his MFA in Painting from Indiana University at Bloomington in 2016. His current body of work transposes the biographical onto archetypal forms and figures to explore the tangential point between existentialism and eroticism.

Specificity in his work gives way to persona, as figures take on the guise of familiar roles: the mother, the lover, the fool, and the serpent. Narratives constructed around simple gestures and common motifs are cobbled together visually through visceral applications of oil paint, plastic acrylic shapes, and carefully arranged spray marks. Flat, ornate floral shapes mockingly dance around thick, heavy flesh. Deep melancholy and absolute bliss permeate throughout the images.
