NOISE presented by Bitcoin Movie Club at The Angelika Film Center

0

(New York, NY –February, 2022) – Noise, the arthouse feature film that takes the audience through one man’s psychedelic trip into his past, played at The Angelika Film Center (18 West Houston Street). The film is through the lens of director and editor Jean-Louis Droulers, who captured the footage over five years growing up in South Florida when he was 17, until he turned 21. Amongst his friends is a young Brandon Flynn, who later went on to star in the hit Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why.

The film, which is funded by bitcoin, will be providing change in bitcoin for all tickets purchased. This will allow New Yorkers to buy bitcoin with dollars over the counter in NYC for the first time.

Jean Louis has gone through many iterations over the last few years in post-production as an experiment that was never intended for release until it was discovered by Zack Weiner and Joe Gallagher, who helped carry it into completion and produced its release through the Bitcoin Movie Club. The film, which is funded by bitcoin, will also only accept bitcoin as payment for tickets.

The VIP guests included star of NOiSE Ella Jordan, Jesse Pimentel (‘Resident Evil’), Director/Producer Mark Rapaport, Former City Council Candidate and lawyer Maria Danzilo, The Honorable Dion Powell, award-winning director Chris Von Hoffman, Tik Tok star glamdemon2004, and The Bachelor contestant Sharleen Joynt

The film starts in the present day, told through a handheld music video of a day in the life, before rewinding to explore Jean Louis’ checkered past through a constantly revolving door of new characters as he delves deeper into a drug binge constantly interrupted by the monster that is NOISE, whom we finally meet after a near death experience in the final act of the film. The end of boyhood. The beginning of something new, a death that gives way to a rebirth.

Jean Louis takes us into a world we wouldn’t otherwise see if not for a young kid with a camera strapped to his face, creating a new language, capturing life without context, without any conception of what a film is, or what the industry demands of one.

After the film concluded, Zack Weiner took the floor to speak about the next steps for the Bitcoin Movie Club. “Bitcoin Movie Club will never do crypto, or whatever NFT, instead we constantly bring movies to Bitcoin’s economy for the simple reason that movie financing remains stagnant after a century plus of innovation in every other moviemaking aspect.”

Bitcoin Movie Club is the marriage of politics and entertainment. Bitcoin represents opportunity. Bitcoin represents a leveling of the playing field as far as access. This opportunity needs to pushed to the absolute maximum.

NOISE is presented by the Bitcoin Movie Club and you can learn more by visiting the website Bitcoin Movie Club.

Streaming Now: Documentary Unveils Business of Basketball w/ AAU Compton Magic’s Etop Udo-Ema

(New York, NY – November, 2021)  – On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Bitcoin Movie Clubco-founders, former city council candidate Zack Weiner and his campaign manager Joe Gallagher, hosted the premiere of Lynchpin, a documentary that explores the inner workings of the business of basketball. The film was directed by Mike Nicoll, produced by Doug Matejka, and presented by executive producers Weiner, Gallagher, and Gabriel Merkin.

A select group of VIP guests including director Mike Nicoll and wife Carlyle, Maria Danzilo, Elliot Allen, Sophie Sakellariadis, Yusef Jordan, Zachary Herring, Shira Hadar and Louis Rosin, enjoyed wine and chocolates, as they were taken behind the scenes of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) universe.

Midway through the event, the intimate group of 30 guests took their seats in the private theater at Elinor Bunin Film Center. The short film follows Compton Magic & CEO Etop Udo-Ema and gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the brokering of a power play made by Puma, via Jay-Z’s Roc Nation sports agency, to lure the Compton Magic away from their longtime corporate sponsor, Adidas. Etop is ultimately denied the sponsorship opportunity with Puma and finds a life raft when approached by Swan Bitcoin, where a new opportunity for sponsorship emerges. Traditional means of sponsorship are no longer the only way as Bitcoin makes its grand entrance into the world of basketball.

After the film concluded, Zack Weiner took the floor to speak about the next steps for the Bitcoin Movie Club, noting that they were all about education towards groups that might not have access to paid grants, such as basketball players that want to monetize. He posed the question, “If you don’t have access to traditional banking? What do you do? How do you make it work?” He continued, “That is something we are looking into, and we are going to figure out.”

Lynchpin is presented by The Bitcoin Movie Club and is now available to stream globally at LynchpinMovie.com. Its television premiere took place on Sunday, November 28th at 8:30pm EST on Whistle TV.

Buscando Recuerdos, a Group exhibition opening at Hashimoto Contemporary November 20, 2021

0

NEW YORK CITY – Hashimoto Contemporary is pleased to
present the group exhibition, Buscando Recuerdos. Inspired by
her Guatemalan heritage, curator Jennifer Rizzo utilized the
exhibition as a way to explore her own memories and sense of
identity through the contemporary art scene. Contemplating a
connection to her roots, these themes of recollection and self
awareness are reflected in the exhibition, and are considered by
many of the featured artists within their daily practice.
Highlighting ten artists, the exhibition represents eight
countries, and serves to capture a snapshot of contemporary
Latinx femme-identifying artists.

Grown by Veronica Fernandez

Miami born and based Natalia Juncadella brings her Colombian and Cuban background to the foreground through her choice of vivid colors, bold strokes and familiar imagery, stacking visual and emotional layers through the portrayal of interior spaces, intimate moments and memories. New York
based Dominican-United Statesian multi-disciplinary artist Joiri Minaya’s Dominican Women Google Search Postcard series grapples with the representation of brown and black women in art, the interchangeability of women’s bodies and landscape in visual culture, the feminization of landscape and the idealization and commodification of both.

Born and currently based in Mexico City, Hilda Palafox explores shape and color through her elegant, commanding figures. Working with an earth toned palette, each piece is filled with symbolism and recurring elements such as florals and natural landscapes. Brazilian twin sisters Uinverso’s work delves into the concept of perception and the different universes that exist in the same space, navigating the paradoxes and mysteries that structure society. Each artist in Buscando Recuerdos holds a distinct
voice, carrying the legacy of their past while simultaneously adding to the dcanon that will be inherited in years to come.
