There’s no summer tradition in the Hamptons quite like it. On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the East Hampton Library will host its 22nd Annual Authors Night, gathering 100 writers across every genre for one of the country’s largest — and most celebrated — evenings of books and the people who write them.
Often called the “Premier Literary Event of the Hamptons,” Authors Night has grown over more than two decades into one of the most successful library-author fundraisers in America, drawing a famously star-studded crowd to the East End each summer. Beneath the glamour, though, is a genuinely important cause.
“As we celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Authors Night, we’re excited to once again bring this beloved event to the Village of East Hampton,” said Dennis Fabiszak, Director of the East Hampton Library. “The funds raised at Authors Night allow us to continue offering essential programs and services at the library—completely free of charge—to our diverse community all year long.”
How the Evening Unfolds
The night kicks off at 5 pm with the Authors Cocktail Party, a reception held under a grand tent where guests sip wine, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and mingle with the authors themselves — a rare chance to buy a book and have it personally inscribed on the spot.
At 8 pm, guests holding higher-level tickets carry the evening on to one of the Author Dinner Parties: intimate gatherings hosted at private area homes, each held in honor of one or more of the featured writers.

LOCATION: Authors Night will be held under a grand tent (rain or shine) on the Herrick Park field at 67 Newtown Lane in the village of East Hampton, NY. Dinner parties are held at private area homes. Please note: The event is NOT held at the library.
