Currently, she stars in Hamilton, Broadway’s hottest new play about the life of Alexander Hamilton. An oft-forgotten figure in America’s history, Hamilton gives new life to his biography with a mixture of rap, hip-hop, pop and traditional theater music. In the play, Goldsberry plays Angelica Schuyler, Alexander Hamilton’s sister-in-law, a role she was drawn to after hearing a one song demo from show writer Lin-Manuel Miranda.
“When I first heard Lin-Manuel Miranda’s demo of the song I sing in the show, my jaw hit the floor,” she said adding, “I thought ‘this is the motherlode.’ People send stuff all the time to prepare or audition for, but this was unlike anything I’ve ever heard, and I couldn’t even take it in in a single hearing. I was like ‘wow, this is huge, this is it.’”
