July 26, 2019; New York, NY – The David Lynch Foundation (DLF) celebrated its 15th anniversary with a summer party at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club. The event launched the Foundation’s national initiative to bring the stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation technique to the nearly one million veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Emcee Katie Couric was joined on-stage by comedian Mike Birbiglia, “Billions” TV showrunner Brian Koppelman, and DLF CEO Bob Roth.



The evening’s hosts were Nancy Chemtob, partner with Chemtob, Moss, Forman & Beyda, LLP, and Mark Axelowitz, Managing Director in Private Wealth Management at UBS. They were joined by Steve Abrams, CEO and majority owner of Magnolia Bakery; Shruti Joshi, CEO of the consumer technology start-up Compell’d Inc.; Joanna Plafsky, film producer; and Orin Snyder, Partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

“More than 21 veterans take their own lives every day because of combat-related PTSD,” said Mr. Axelowitz, who also serves as the DLF board vice chair. “Research has shown that Transcendental Meditation is a highly effective technique to help any veterans heal their trauma from within. Tonight, we are launching a national initiative, in partnership with VA hospitals throughout the country, to bring Transcendental Meditation to every veteran in America who wants to learn to meditate.”
David Lynch Foundation is a nonprofit organization addresses the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress among at-risk populations through the implementation of the stress-reducing, evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique. To date, the Foundation has provided scholarships for more than one million inner-city youth, veterans with PTSD, and women survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to learn to meditate.
